NOV SPS designs and manufactures flexible pipes and innovative subsea solutions for the offshore energy industry.


With operations in Denmark (Brøndby and Kalundborg) and Brazil (Rio de Janeiro and Açu Port), we combine advanced engineering expertise with state-of-the-art manufacturing technology to deliver subsea equipment to major oil companies and installation contractors worldwide.


As demand for offshore flexible pipe systems continues to grow, we are looking for talented Pipe System Design Engineers to join our global engineering team in Rio de Janeiro or Açu Port, Brazil.


Your New RoleAs part of the Pipe System Design Engineering department, you will play a key role in front-end project phases, including tenders, FEED studies, and new product development.


You will contribute to concept definition, preliminary design, and early-stage technical evaluations that directly influence project direction and product innovation.


Depending on your background and business needs, you may work with flexible riser system analysis or flexible pipe cross-section design.


Working in a multidisciplinary and international environment, you will collaborate closely with engineering, manufacturing, project management, and commercial teams to develop robust, fit-for-purpose, and cost-effective subsea solutions—driven by a continuous improvement mindset and a focus on advancing technical boundaries.


Your Responsibilities Contribute to concept development and preliminary design of flexible pipe systems during tendering and FEED phases.


Design and analyze subsea flexible pipe systems for offshore applications.


Perform structural and hydrodynamic analyses to evaluate system behavior under installation and operational conditions.


Assess loading conditions including bending, tension, compression, fatigue, and environmental effects.


Support flexible riser configuration design (e.g., free-hanging, lazy wave) and associated components such as buoyancy modules and bend stiffeners.


Contribute to flexible pipe cross-section design, including material selection, structural capacity, and failure mode evaluation.


Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across engineering, manufacturing, sales, and project management.


Participate in technical discussions with clients, installation contractors, and independent verification agencies.


Prepare technical documentation, reports, and engineering deliverables.


Ensure compliance with industry standards such as API Spec 17J and API RP 17B.

To Succeed In This Role, You Typically Have Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Ocean Engineering, Naval Architecture, Civil Engineering, Materials Engineering, or a related discipline.


Experience in offshore engineering, structural analysis, or subsea systems (experience level may vary).


Familiarity with tools such as Orcaflex, finite element analysis software, or similar simulation tools.


Experience with Python for engineering analysis, data processing, or automation is considered an advantage.


Solid understanding of structural mechanics, hydrodynamics, fatigue, and nonlinear behavior.


Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.


Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary and international teams.


Good communication skills and ability to present technical information clearly.


Professional proficiency in English.
