We are looking for a full-time, remote AI Engineer with 3+ years of software development experience using Python to join our U.S. client. In this role, you will design, build, and ship agentic AI workflows that drive fuel optimization, pairing strong software engineering fundamentals with hands-on experience orchestrating, evaluating, and productionizing foundation-model applications.

Our client provides industry-leading environmental compliance, fuel management, and facility maintenance software used by major fuel networks, including global brands. Their platform helps companies monitor and optimize operations by delivering real-time insights, automating compliance tasks, and ensuring site uptime.

With a mission to make sustainability and operational efficiency seamless, our client is transforming how fuel networks operate. As part of their dynamic, fast-paced engineering team, you'll have the opportunity to work on cloud-based, data-driven solutions that have a direct impact on performance, compliance, and environmental responsibility.

Responsibilities

  • Write scalable, production-ready Python that powers agentic AI workflows and the services that support them
  • Build evaluation and observability pipelines that track output quality, latency, and cost, and catch regressions before they reach production
  • Ship agentic workflows to production with solid test coverage, evaluation gates, and CI/CD automation
  • Contribute to the team's broader ML work — including MLOps pipelines and model deployment — collaborating across BI, machine learning, and deep learning initiatives
  • Collaborate with engineering, product, and data teams to integrate AI workflows into products and iterate on their quality and reliability using production feedback
  • Work closely with product managers and stakeholders to ensure data-driven insights align with business objectives
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required Experience

  • Excellent English communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts and trade-offs to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • 3+ years of experience building and shipping production software, including hands-on work with ML or LLM-based systems
  • Strong Python proficiency, with experience building AI agents and the production services around them
  • Experience with SQL and comfort working with the data that powers AI systems (retrieval sources and structured operational data)
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS (S3, EC2, and Lambda), including deploying and running production services on cloud infrastructure
  • Familiarity with version control (Git) and Agile methodologies for software development
  • Proven delivery experience in a vibrant, dynamic startup environment
  • A collaborative approach, a can-do attitude, and a relentless pursuit to attain goals and solve problems
  • Trustworthy, team-oriented, and transparent

Desired Experience

  • University degree or relevant industry experience
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in data science, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field
  • Experience with DevOps practices such as containerization (Docker) and infrastructure-as-code
  • Familiarity with traditional ML and MLOps — model training, data drift and model-quality monitoring, and the deployment lifecycle
  • Prior experience in industries like fuel optimization or related fields

Additional Information:

  • Knowing your ideas are heard and matter - Think Big!
  • You get to own your job and be recognized for your contributions
  • Work with smart and creative people
  • Making mistakes is human. Let's learn from them. Be transparent!
  • We recognize you as an individual no presumptions or judgment. Be the extraordinary you!
  • 15 days Paid Time Off (PTO), 1 floating day, 3 sick days, and designated national holidays
  • Start: ASAP
