Application Development Consultant

The Goodyear Tire and Rubber company is seeking a motivated individual to design, develop, and deliver integrated CAD & PLM software solutions to internal customers in support of business needs. You will work with a cross-functional and cross-continental group of software developers and engineers who are creating, enhancing, and supporting CAD applications that are key to the Goodyear design community. The software engineer will design and develop software solutions within these critical systems.

The candidate will evolve as part of a global software development team which implements IT R&D software solutions to support the tire design and manufacturing processes in different innovation and design centers and many manufacturing plants globally. The quality of our service is ensured through our implementation of industry standard ITIL practices.

What You’ll Do:

Main Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and enhance enterprise CAD applications that integrate with PLM, ensuring alignment with business requirements and enterprise architecture standards.
• Develop and maintain application components using .NET technologies (C#, VB.NET), SQL, Web Technologies and scripting tools to support engineering and business processes.
• Collaborate with business design groups, analysts, and stakeholders to translate functional requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Adhere to established Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) practices, including coding standards, code reviews, testing, and release governance.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues across application, data, and integration layers where root causes are not immediately obvious.
• Maintain, enhance, and support sub-systems, integrations, and third-party components within the CAD application ecosystem.
• Ensure data integrity, system consistency, and application stability through robust design, validation, and control mechanisms.
• Develop and execute unit testing to ensure high-quality, defect-free deliverables aligned with development standards.
• Communicate effectively with project managers, architects, and stakeholders to provide progress updates, technical insights, and risk identification.
• Seek guidance from senior IT associates when working with unclear requirements or unfamiliar technologies.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members, contributing to team capability and quality standards.
• Maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including design specifications, code documentation, and operational procedures.
• Evaluate and investigate emerging technologies, tools, and frameworks to improve application capabilities and developer efficiency.
• Support production deployments, including participation in change windows and off-hours activities as required.
• Operate effectively within EST time zone hours and support global delivery needs when necessary.

What We’re Looking For:

• · BRONZE Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, MIS, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• · BRONZE Minimum 7-8 years of experience in application development using C#, VB.NET, SQL, and related Microsoft technologies.
• · BRONZE Experience developing web-based solutions using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, JSON, React, Angular or similar technologies
• · BRONZE Experience working with scripting tools such as Batch scripting, SQL, or equivalent automation tools.
• · BRONZE Experience with .NET web technologies and application development frameworks.
• · BRONZE Experience working with scripting and automation tools such as SQL, Batch scripting, or PowerShell
• · BRONZE Hands-on experience working within structured SDLC and Agile/DevOps delivery models
• · BRONZE Experience using version control systems such as GitHub, working with modern CI/CD and DevOps toolchains (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Jira)
• · BRONZE Experience working in production support environments with incident and problem management responsibilities using ServiceNOW
• · SILVER Experience with CAD/CAM systems such as CATIA V5, Siemens NX, or similar engineering platforms.
• · SILVER Experience with with Siemens Teamcenter PLM version 2412 or newer integrations in enterprise production environments
• · SILVER Exposure to Java and JavaScript-based development technologies.
• · SILVER Ability to design, evaluate, and evolve AWS‑based solutions/services/architectures, including cloud services (EC2, S3, Lambda, VPC)
• · GOLD Practical experience developing & implementing AI-assisted development tools including agents, MCPs, LLMs, RAG, etc (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Copilot Studio, Claude, Cursor, CodeX, Gemini, Kiro, Cortex)
• · GOLD Experience with PowerShell and VBA for automation and reporting.
