Job Title: Senior Backend Software Engineer

Work Mode: 100% Remote

Employment Type: Independent Contractor (Hourly, no benefits; candidate responsible for taxes)

Contract Duration: 6 Months (with possibility of extension)

Working Hours: 40 hours per week

About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Backend Software Engineer to join a newly formed engineering team building and modernizing core backend systems for a leading luxury resale marketplace. You'll work on scalable backend services, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and contribute to greenfield development while leveraging modern engineering practices and AI-assisted development tools.

Required Skills

• 3–5+ years of backend software engineering experience
• Strong hands-on experience with Python and Ruby
• Experience building production-grade backend applications and REST APIs
• Strong understanding of distributed systems and event-driven architectures
• Experience with Git and modern software development practices
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills

Frontend (Nice to Have): React, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML, CSS

APIs & Web Services: REST APIs, GraphQL
