Backend Developer

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Backend Developer based in Brazil.

This is a remote, project-based backend engineering role focused on building and evaluating high-quality software engineering tasks for advanced AI systems. You will work on realistic, production-level scenarios involving backend development, debugging, refactoring, and test creation across complex codebases. The role requires strong technical depth and the ability to think both as a builder and a reviewer, ensuring correctness, clarity, and robustness of engineering outputs. You will contribute to shaping datasets and evaluations that directly improve AI coding capabilities at scale. The environment is highly autonomous, allowing flexibility in scheduling and execution while maintaining high quality standards. It is ideal for experienced engineers who enjoy deep technical work, code analysis, and designing meaningful software challenges.

Accountabilities

• Design and implement multi-file backend coding tasks involving bug fixing, feature development, refactoring, and test generation.
• Write clear and structured technical specifications along with reference implementations.
• Develop and extend unit and integration test suites using modern testing frameworks.
• Review peer-generated tasks to ensure correctness, realism, and alignment with requirements.
• Identify edge cases, ambiguities, and potential failure scenarios in complex codebases.
• Contribute to production-realistic engineering scenarios that reflect real-world backend systems.
• Ensure consistency between specifications, implementations, and expected outputs across tasks.
  
  

Requirements

• 3-7 years of professional software engineering experience in backend or full-stack development roles.
• Strong proficiency in Python and JavaScript/TypeScript, with working knowledge of Java, C#, or Go.
• Advanced English proficiency (written) for technical communication and documentation.
• Experience working with production systems and large, multi-file codebases.
• Strong familiarity with testing frameworks such as pytest, Jest, JUnit, xUnit, or Go testing tools.
• Proven experience in debugging, refactoring, and performing production migrations.
• Ability to perform detailed code reviews and provide structured technical feedback.
• Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and ability to work independently in a remote environment.
