Business Intelligence Engineer / Analyst

We are looking for a full-time, remote Business Intelligence Engineer / Analyst with 3+ years of data analytics and business intelligence experience to join our U.S. client. In this role, you will partner closely with stakeholders across the organization to gather requirements, define metrics, build Power BI reports, support dashboard adoption, and help teams make better decisions with data.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working directly with business users, asking thoughtful questions, translating operational workflows into reporting requirements, and building intuitive dashboards that tell a clear data story. The successful candidate will be comfortable writing SQL, developing semantic models and reports in Power BI, validating data, documenting requirements, and presenting insights to both technical and non-technical audiences.

This position will work closely with the BI Warehouse Owner / Analytics Engineering function, which owns the core data models, data pipelines, and broader BI architecture. This role should also be able to assist and/or cover in broader ETL/ELT BI architecture work, as needed.

Responsibilities

• Partner with stakeholders to gather reporting requirements, clarify business objectives, define metrics, and translate business questions into actionable BI solutions
• Design, build, test, and maintain Power BI dashboards, reports, and semantic models for internal and customer-facing use cases
• Write SQL queries to analyze, validate, and troubleshoot data from warehouse tables and other approved data sources
• Develop and maintain KPIs, DAX measures, filters, relationships, report interactions, and role-level security configurations as needed
• Validate report outputs, investigate data discrepancies, and collaborate with BI Warehouse Owners / Analytics Engineering to resolve data quality or modeling issues
• Create clear, user-friendly reporting experiences that support operational monitoring, executive review, self-service analysis, and data storytelling
• Maintain documentation for reporting requirements, business definitions, metric logic, assumptions, and known limitations
• Support BI governance, QA, stakeholder adoption, backlog prioritization, and release coordination for reporting work items

Required Experience

• Excellent English communication and interpersonal skills
• 3+ years of experience in data analytics and business intelligence
• Direct experience with industry-standard data visualization tools (Power BI strongly preferred)
• Strong SQL skills for querying, transformation, and performance tuning
• Familiarity with cloud data platforms or databases such as PostgreSQL, Microsoft SQL Server, Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery, or similar
• Refined problem-solving skills and the ability to translate business needs into technical solutions
• Ability to tell a clear story with data by designing reports that support business decisions and empower users to explore insights
• Demonstrated skills in managing multiple requests, priorities, and stakeholders in a fast-moving environment
• Proven delivery experience in a vibrant, dynamic startup environment

Desired Experience

• University degree or relevant industry experience
• Familiarity with dimensional modeling concepts such as facts, dimensions, star and snowflake schemas, and semantic layers
• Experience with data engineering ETL tools, development workflows, and languages such as Python, dbt, Git, Azure DevOps, Prefect, or similar
• Prior experience in SaaS, logistics, energy, fuel management, compliance, operations, or asset/equipment-based reporting
• UX/Design tool experience such as Figma or similar
