Role Overview

We are seeking an expert-level, highly skilled Cloud Systems Engineer (DevOps) to serve as a GCP Specialist and technical builder for our Google Cloud ecosystem. This role requires more than administration; you must be capable of building architectural change, adjusting systems, and driving modernization efforts. You will be responsible for the end-to-end management of our GCP infrastructure, from complex networking to proactive cost optimization and resource scaling. A key responsibility is leading and running large-scale cloud migration projects, specifically from AWS to GCP.

The ideal candidate ensures our Compute Engine environment is lean, fast, and resilient while maintaining secure connectivity using both native and third-party VPN solutions.

The role’s primary focus demands deep GCP expertise, but candidates must also possess significant experience with AWS for successful migration

strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Infrastructure & Networking: Configure and maintain robust networking architectures, including Cloud DNS and Cloud NAT.
  • Linux System Administration: Manage and maintain the operating system environment on Compute Engine instances, including patching, configuration management, user account management, and troubleshooting core system issues.
  • VPN Management: Build and manage secure tunnels using Cloud VPN, pfSense virtual appliances, and CloudConnexa (OpenVPN) for flexible remote access.
  • Performance Monitoring: Utilize Google Cloud Operations Suite to monitor Compute Engine health. Identify bottlenecks and tune instances for peak performance.
  • Resource Management: Oversee persistent disks, snapshots, and storage buckets. Ensure high availability while purging unused resources to maintain environment hygiene.
  • Cost Optimization: Actively monitor billing dashboards, implement committed use discounts (CUDs), and right-size underutilized instances to maintain a lean budget.
  • Database Oversight: Provide support for PostgreSQL and Oracle environments, ensuring seamless integration and performance within the GCP ecosystem.
  • Security & Compliance: Enforce IAM roles and security best practices to protect the project perimeter

Required Qualifications

  • Certification: Active Google Cloud Professional DevOps Engineer certification.
  • Containerization Mastery: Strong expertise with Docker for containerizing applications, managing images, and troubleshooting container runtimes.
  • Scripting Mastery: High proficiency in Python or Bash for automating routine infrastructure tasks, reporting, and task scheduling.
  • Networking Expertise: Hands-on experience managing network routing, firewall rules, and site-to-site VPNs using pfSense and CloudConnexa.
  • Cloud Migration & Project Leadership: Proven experience leading and running application and data migrations from AWS to GCP. This includes the capability to own the end-to-end migration project life cycle and drive solutions.
  • Compute Engine Mastery: Deep understanding of VM lifecycles, custom machine types, and auto-scaling.
  • English Proficiency: Advanced English level (B2–C1 or higher)

Nice-to-Have

  • PostgreSQL Expertise: Strong hands-on experience with configuration, optimization, and query tuning.
  • Oracle Expertise: Experience managing or migrating Oracle database environments.
  • Data & Analytics: Familiarity with BigQuery.

We offer

  • We welcome new ideas and allow you to make an immediate impact on the team.
  • Flexible Paid time off (PTO for any reason, including sick days (no specified limits) and flexible work schedule).
  • Personal laptop.
  • Health and wellness package.
  • Fully remote.

As this is an English-speaking role, we kindly ask that all applications be submitted with a CV in English.
