Senior AI‑Native Backend Engineer (Java | 10+ Years Experience)

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior AI‑Native Backend Engineer with deep expertise in Java to design, build, and operate scalable, secure, and compliant backend systems that power agentic AI workflows.

This role is central to enabling AI‑driven decision pipelines by integrating internal AI platforms (e.g., NASH), external AI services, enterprise data sources, and compliance systems through well‑orchestrated backend services.

The ideal candidate combines strong Java engineering fundamentals, distributed systems expertise, and hands‑on experience implementing AI orchestration, rule application, and explainable decision flows in regulated, enterprise environments.

Key Responsibilities

AI‑Native Backend & Agentic Orchestration

Design, build, and maintain backend services in Java that support agentic AI pipelines

Implement agentic workflows that route content and data through internal AI platforms (e.g., NASH), applying compliance rules, metadata, and review logic

Develop APIs and services that enable:

Context enrichment

Rule evaluation

Decision orchestration

Explainable AI outcomes

Orchestrate interactions between:

Internal AI platforms (NASH)

External AI services (Azure AI, AWS AI)

Enterprise data and compliance systems

Architecture & Distributed Systems

Lead architectural discussions for AI‑driven backend platforms

Design scalable, resilient, and secure microservices architectures

Ensure high performance, reliability, and fault tolerance in production AI workflows

Apply solid object‑oriented design, design patterns, and domain‑driven principles

Governance, Compliance & Security

Embed governance, auditability, traceability, and explainability into all AI‑enabled backend services

Ensure secure data handling and compliance with enterprise and regulatory standards

Implement logging, monitoring, and audit trails for AI‑driven decisions

Enforce backend security best practices (OAuth2, JWT, secure API design)

Engineering Excellence & Collaboration

Write clean, maintainable, and well‑tested Java code following best practices

Perform code reviews and raise engineering standards across teams

Collaborate with frontend, AI, data, product, and compliance teams

Mentor junior and mid‑level engineers

Actively contribute to Agile/Scrum ceremonies and continuous improvement

Required Qualifications and Experience

10+ years of professional experience in Java backend development

Strong expertise in core Java (Java 8+)

Proven experience building enterprise‑grade, distributed systems

Strong experience with RESTful APIs and microservices

Hands‑on experience developing backend integration services and orchestration layers

Solid understanding of:

Object‑oriented design

Design patterns

Software engineering best practices

Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle)

Proficiency with Git, Maven/Gradle, and CI/CD pipelines

Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and performance optimization skills

Preferred Skills and Technologies

Frameworks: Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Cloud

Experience supporting or integrating AI/ML and LLM‑based systems

Familiarity with agentic AI workflows and AI orchestration concepts

Cloud platforms: AWS, Azure, or GCP

Containerization & orchestration: Docker, Kubernetes

Messaging systems: Kafka, RabbitMQ

NoSQL databases: MongoDB, Cassandra

Monitoring & observability: Prometheus, ELK stack, Splunk

Understanding of AI governance, compliance, and responsible AI practices

Frontend exposure (Angular, React) is a plus for cross‑stack collaboration
