Position: Java Developer – Backend & Microservices

Location: Remote (Office in Chicago, USA)

Seniority: Mid-level (Pleno)

Contract Model: Independent Contractor (Brazil – PJ)

What We Are Looking For

We are seeking a Java Developer with solid experience in backend development and microservices architecture to support the design, development, and evolution of scalable enterprise applications.

This professional will play a key role in building robust backend services, contributing to technical decisions, and ensuring high standards of performance, security, and code quality across distributed systems.

The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise with problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in agile and global environments.

⚠️ Advanced English is required (daily interaction with global teams).

⚠️ Experience working in structured environments and collaborating with cross-functional teams is highly valued.

Key Responsibilities

Develop, maintain, and evolve backend applications using Java, focusing on scalability and performance.

Design and implement RESTful APIs and microservices in distributed environments.

Collaborate in technical discussions and solution design alongside architecture and product teams.

Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve production issues, ensuring system reliability.

Implement code improvements, optimizations, and performance tuning initiatives.

Ensure code quality through best practices, testing strategies, and peer reviews.

Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including Product, QA, and DevOps.

Participate in agile ceremonies and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Required Qualifications

Solid experience with Java development in backend environments.

Experience with Spring Boot, REST APIs, and microservices architecture.

Hands-on experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, or Oracle).

Familiarity with version control systems such as Git.

Strong understanding of object-oriented programming and software design principles.

Experience working in Agile environments (Scrum or Kanban).

NICE TO HAVE

Experience or familiarity with .NET technologies (nice to have for multi-stack environments).

Experience with containerization tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.

Experience working with cloud platforms, especially Azure.

Knowledge of observability, monitoring, and performance analysis tools.

Experience in scalable and high-availability systems.
