Senior AI/ML Data Scientist with advanced analytics experience

Job Summary InnoVet Health, a small and growing business that provides health IT professional services to the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), is seeking a Senior Health Data Scientist to serve as a technical team lead on AI/ML initiatives.

This is a hands-on senior individual contributor role with technical leadership responsibilities, not a people management position.

You will lead a small team of data scientists, ensuring technical quality across projects while staying close to the work: designing solutions, reviewing code and methodology, and guiding models from requirements through production deployment.

You will also serve as a primary technical point of contact with VA stakeholders, translating clinical and operational needs into actionable analytics.

This role is ideal for someone with depth in health data science who wants to shape how a data science team delivers high-impact work in a complex healthcare environment.

The position is full-time and fully remote.

Responsibilities • Serve as technical lead for a team of data scientists, providing code review, methodology guidance, and mentorship.

Ensure solutions are scalable, maintainable, and compliant with healthcare and federal standards. • Collaborate with data engineers and IT teams on data pipelines, infrastructure, and integration.

Qualifications • MS or PhD in data science, biomedical informatics, statistics, computer science, or a related quantitative field.

Comfort working in a multi-cloud environment. • Strong programming proficiency in Python, with working knowledge of SQL and Spark.

Experience presenting to senior stakeholders or federal clients. • Must possess a valid Green Card or be a U.

S. citizen.

Preferred Qualifications • Experience working with healthcare data (clinical, claims, EHR, or similar).
