Senior Java Backend Engineer (Java, AWS & AI-Driven Development)

About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join our growing engineering team and help design, build, and deploy scalable cloud-native applications for global clients.

This role is ideal for an experienced Java engineer who not only excels in backend development but also actively leverages AI-powered tools and modern Generative AI technologies to improve productivity, code quality, and software delivery.

You will work closely with engineers, architects, product managers, and client stakeholders to solve complex business challenges through scalable software solutions, cloud platforms, and AI-enabled development practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services using Java 17+ and Spring Boot
• Build and maintain scalable, secure, and high-performance RESTful APIs
• Design and implement microservices and distributed systems
• Develop, deploy, and support applications running in AWS environments
• Collaborate with product managers, architects, and stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions
• Write clean, maintainable, well-tested, and production-ready code
• Troubleshoot and optimize application performance, reliability, and scalability
• Contribute to engineering best practices, including testing, CI/CD, observability, and documentation
• Leverage AI-powered development tools to improve engineering efficiency and accelerate delivery
• Participate in the evaluation and adoption of emerging AI technologies and development workflows

Required Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience
• Strong experience with Java 17+ and Spring Boot
• Experience designing and developing REST APIs
• Experience building and deploying applications in AWS
• Solid understanding of microservices architecture and distributed systems
• Experience with Git and modern software development practices
• Experience with Docker and containerized environments
• Strong problem-solving and debugging skills
• Excellent verbal and written English communication skills

AI & Modern Engineering Requirements

• Demonstrated experience using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, Gemini Code Assist, ChatGPT, or similar solutions
• Experience incorporating AI into daily software development workflows to improve productivity, code quality, testing, documentation, or troubleshooting
• Familiarity with Generative AI concepts, Large Language Models (LLMs), and modern AI-powered engineering practices
• Ability to evaluate and adopt new AI tools and technologies as part of the software development lifecycle

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Neo4j or other graph databases
• Experience with Kubernetes
• Experience integrating LLMs into applications
• Experience building AI-powered features, assistants, copilots, or agent-based workflows
• Familiarity with RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) architectures
• Familiarity with MCP (Model Context Protocol), tool/function calling, or multi-agent systems
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments
• Previous consulting or client-facing experience
• Knowledge of cloud-native architectures and modern platform engineering practices
