Senior Tableau Engineer

We are looking for a Senior Tableau Engineer

Project Description: We have a number of existing and new Tableau dashboard requests to support the business’ ability to proactively plan and forecast stability testing work. About 5 existing Tableau dashboards will require net-new rebuilds along with up to 3 new dashboards. In addition, we will also look to buildout 2-3 KPI reporting dashboards to track product success metrics.

Job Description

As a Senior Tableau Engineer, you will create interactive and easy-to-understand dashboards and visualizations to inform business decisions. Your work will help Client’s Quality Control organization to visualize and analyze data effectively, providing insights that drive business decision-making. In this role, you will serve as a key bridge between complex data and business stakeholder needs, inclusive of buildout of new Tableau dashboard reports, creation of business intelligence reports/visualizations and work with data engineering and developer resources to incorporate key reportable datasets.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Creating and Managing Dashboards: Development of visually appealing and interactive dashboards is a primary responsibility. The role involves designing and developing intuitive and easy-to-understand dashboards that help users quickly grasp critical insights from the data. The developer ensures these dashboards provide meaningful and actionable information.

• Design, develop, conducts unit testing, and maintains complex Tableau reports for scalability, manageability, extensibility, performance, and re-use.
• Provide technical expertise in areas of architecture, design, and implementation.
• Determine the best implementation that will meet the design of the architect.

Data Integration and Management: Manage and integrate data from various sources. This involves connecting Tableau to different databases, ensuring data accuracy, and maintaining the integrity of data feeds to be effectively used in Tableau for analysis and reporting.

Collaborating with Product Management and Business Stakeholders: Partner with Product Management and work closely with stakeholders to understand and translate their business requirements into Tableau dashboards' functional specifications. This collaboration ensures that the developed solutions meet the business’ specific needs and help achieve strategic objectives.

• Work with team members to create useful reports and dashboards that provide insight, improve/automate processes, or otherwise add expected value to the team.

Performance Optimization: Ensuring that Tableau dashboards and reports are optimized for performance is crucial. This responsibility includes improving load times, enhancing responsiveness, and handling large datasets efficiently. The developer must regularly monitor and fine-tune the performance of Tableau solutions to provide a seamless user experience.

Inform User Training and Support Model: Partner with product management and business stakeholders to inform training content and define ongoing end-user support needs.

Metrics, Data Security and Governance: Ensuring measurability, governance of policies and data security is crucial. This involves setting up appropriate access controls, monitoring data usage, and creation of key reporting dashboards to track product usage (MAU, DAU) and measurable value.

Requirements

• Proven experience in developing and working Tableau driven dashboards, analytics. Prior experience with UX design/wireframing extremely desirable
• Ability to query and display large data sets while maximizing the performance of workbook. Prior experience working with AWS and Redshift a must-have
• Ability to interpret technical or dashboard structure and translate complex business requirements to technical specifications.
• Experience working in agile methodology. Jira and Confluence experience a must-have
• Working knowledge of Tableau administrator/architecture.
• Advanced Tableau development skills required.
• High-level competency in Excel (macros, pivot tables, etc.).
• Understanding of advanced calculations and statistical functions.
• Solid experience working with SQL, relational database management systems, data modeling, and normalization
• Strong communication skills with ability to translate key technical concepts and solutions to business stakeholders in non-technical language (oral, written and/or diagramming)
• Strong experience owning technical documentation and technical requirements
• Demonstrated problem-solving ability and business acumen
• Prior experience with biotech/pharma quality control and/or stability operational datasets highly desired.
