Location and Flexibility

This is a hybrid role. This model requires the ability to work in a hybrid mode from one of our offices in São Paulo (2 times/ week or 8 days/ month) or Porto Alegre (3 times/ week or 12 days/ month). Our office culture is designed to foster in-person innovation, collaboration, and connection with team members, local and visiting, from other global offices

Our Team And What We’ll Accomplish Together

You'll join the FineTune Studio team, a robotics data collection platform that powers critical workflows across multiple concurrent projects. Our engineering team supports a comprehensive pipeline: from data collection via sensors and VR headsets, through automated AI quality checks, to human QC review, and finally data submission to clients. Most projects run on a 2–3 month cycle, so you'll work on diverse, fast-paced initiatives where your contributions have immediate, measurable impact.

As our Brazil-based engineer, you'll operate with a high degree of autonomy. You'll manage incoming work through Linear tickets (feature development), who'll flag production issues and urgent client needs via Slack when real-time coordination is needed.

Together, we're building the infrastructure that enables our clients to collect, validate, and deploy high-quality robotics training data at scale. Your work directly supports multiple concurrent projects and helps drive the success of FineTune Studio's mission to streamline data pipelines globally.

What You’ll Do

As a Staff Engineer, you'll lead initiatives that span front-end and back-end services — delivering performant, secure, and scalable features. You'll help define architecture, drive implementation, and collaborate closely with Design, PM, and Platform teams. You'll also work directly with our technical architects to help shape what we build — and how we build it. This is a high-impact role in a growing, strategic product area with strong executive visibility.

• Design, build, and maintain end-to-end features using back end programming languages like Python, GoLang, Java, NodeJS and databases like PostgreSQL.
• Lead technical design for key initiatives, driving quality, scalability, and maintainability.
• Build reusable and performant UI components for a best-in-class no-code builder experience.
• Own services throughout their lifecycle — including implementation, testing, deployment, observability, and incident response.
• Work closely with Product, Design, and Architecture to define the "what" and "how" of features, ensuring solutions are both user-friendly and technically sound.
• Partner with infrastructure and platform teams to optimize system performance and reliability.
• Mentor and support engineers across the team, fostering a culture of quality, ownership, and continuous improvement.
• Contribute to cross-functional planning, architectural reviews, and team-wide engineering practices.
  
  

Must-haves

What you bring

• 8+ years of experience building modern web applications in a full-stack environment.
• Experience designing APIs and building robust services at scale in a distributed, cloud-based architecture.
• Experience with PostgreSQL, Docker, and Kubernetes.
• Experience delivering elegant, enterprise-grade user experiences by partnering with Product and Design teams in a fast-paced, agile environment.
• Deep expertise back end programming languages like Python, GoLang, Java, NodeJS (Express or similar frameworks).
• Knowledge in front end such as Javascript, React are differentiators, but not mandatory.
• Ability to collaborate closely with Architects to make smart technical tradeoffs, and drive alignment across teams.
• Passion for craftsmanship and high engineering standards (testing, monitoring, documentation, scalability).
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to lead technical discussions and build consensus across functions.

• Exposure to low-code/no-code tools, workflow engines, or visual development platforms.
• Interest in AI-assisted developer tooling or automation.
• Experience working with 2d/3d rendering libraries.
