Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 8 years of experience in software development.
- 5 years of experience testing, and launching software products.
- 5 years of experience with full stack development, across back-end such as Java, Python, Golang, or C++ codebases, and front-end experience including JavaScript or TypeScript, HTML, CSS or equivalent.
- 3 years of experience with software design and architecture.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience designing, building, and optimizing large-scale Information Retrieval (IR), Search Ranking, Natural Language Processing (NLP), or Machine Learning Systems.
- Experience designing or scaling robust evaluation systems, metric frameworks, or automated testing pipelines for software architectures.
- Experience managing, mentoring, and developing a team of software engineers, including experience leading executive technical leads.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and influencing skills, with a track record of partnering effectively with cross-functional peers (Product Management, Technical Program Management, Site Reliability Engineering).
- Proven track record of defining strategic technical roadmaps and driving architectural alignment across multiple teams.

Provide the foundational text and multimodal understanding layer to enhance Google's generative response's relevance and factuality and unlock actionable user experiences.

In this role, you will lead a high-caliber, fast-paced engineering team dedicated to building the foundational text and multi-modal understanding layer that powers AI relevance, grounding, and factuality across Google's search experiences. You will play a dual role: providing strong people management and organizational leadership while making critical, direct technical contributions to the architecture of our core entity grounding systems and next-generation evaluation frameworks.
